Cord
A first knot
One cord, one promise to yourself, three knots you can untie. The longer theory is in the craft chapter.
Timing. Morning of the day the task is due.
Materials
- A piece of cotton string or a shoelace you can spare.
- The task, written.
- Scissors.
- A pocket or a drawer.
- A timer.
Steps
- 1Cut a length of string as long as your forearm. Do not use a cord you need to keep a garment on if losing it would be a problem.
- 2Read the task.
- 3Tie the first knot and say “I know what it is.”
- 4Tie the second and say “I will start before the hour I named.”
- 5Tie the third and say “I will stop when it is done, not when it is perfect.”
- 6Put the string where your hand will find it.
- 7When the task is finished, untie all three knots and throw the string away or use it for an ordinary purpose. Untying is part of the spell.
These knots hold a task, not a person. When the task is done they come apart.
Close. If the day ends and the task is not done, untie the knots anyway. A knot that survives its day becomes clutter and superstition.
The practical action, which is not optional if you want the rite to be honest. Do the task.
