Elements
The elements, as a teaching device
Earth, air, fire, water, and a center. A memory palace, not a periodic table.
The four elements are an old Mediterranean way of sorting the world, later a ceremonial and then a Wiccan teaching tool. They are not chemistry. Oxygen is not “air” in the magical sense, and you should not design a ritual that contradicts the fire escape.
| Element | In this library it asks you to notice | Chapter |
|---|---|---|
| Earth | Body, rent, food, the actual floor. | /craft/elements/earth/ |
| Air | Speech, study, promises, the open window. | /craft/elements/air/ |
| Fire | Will, risk, the candle you do not leave alone. | /craft/elements/fire/ |
| Water | Feeling, tears, the cup, the sink. | /craft/elements/water/ |
| Center | The person doing the noticing. Sometimes called spirit. Not a rank above the others. | /craft/elements/center/ |
Quarter calls are optional. If you use them, call qualities, not gendered kings and queens, unless you are consciously reading a historical script and saying so. A circle does not need a heterosexual seating chart.
